Guangzhou, China, May 12, 2022 -- XPENG (NYSE: XPEV and HKEX: 9868), a leading Chinese smart EV company, today announced that XPENG G9 SUV has successfully obtained the Guangzhou Intelligent Connected Vehicle Passenger Test Permit, and the testing area covers all general testing roads in Guangzhou.
Under the permit, the company will launch Robotaxi autonomous driving passenger testing service for all users in the Huangpu District of Guangzhou in the second half of 2023. By then users can simply hail a G9 Robotaxi through a mini-program app on WeChat.

In November 2022, XPENG G9 became the first mass-produced vehicle in the industry to achieve autonomous driving capabilities without hardware modifications but through software upgrades.
The G9 autonomous driving road test vehicles utilize the same hardware suite as G9 commercial vehicles, including sensors for perception, computing and vehicle control systems. G9 has also enhanced its capabilities for Robotaxi-related scenarios.
The zero-modification of G9 Robotaxi has greatly reduced the adaptation cost from R&D, mass production to maintenance - an innovative approach to large-scale utilization as well as commercialization of Robotaxi.
With data closed-loop, the G9 Robotaxi fleet will improve its performance, stability, and generalization ability more efficiently. And together with mass-produced vehicles, the fleet will greatly improve the volume and variety of training data collected through real-world operation.
The G9's autonomous driving system is equipped with China's first and only mass-produced BEV (Bird's Eye View) perception technology, XNet, which delivers real-time 360° panoramic environmental perception of surrounding road conditions, including traffic participants, traffic signs, lane markings and drivable space etc.
